Lots of people who are suffering in one paraphilia do have more than one. As an example, about one-third of pedophiles likewise have another paraphilia. Over fifty percent participate in three to four such types of actions instead of just one. People whom create a paraphilia start having fantasies about this before these are generally 13 years old.
In line with the most up to date reference that is standard mental problems, the Diagnostic and Statistical handbook of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5),
Preceded by the DSM-IV and DSM-IV-TR, there are a variety of several types of paraphilias, every one of which includes a focus that is different of victim’s sexual arousal:

- Exhibitionism: exposing one’s own genitals to a person that is unsuspecting
- Frotteurism: touching or rubbing against a person that is non-consenting
- Intimate masochism: being humiliated, beaten, bound, or else putting up with
- Sexual sadism: the real or emotional suffering of some other person
- Pedophilia: sex with a kid that is prepubescent (usually 13 years old or more youthful)
- Fetishism: intimate desire for nonliving things or extremely certain parts of the body (partialism).
